Friends of Native Wildife often have night-time events, where we use torches.

A torch is to help your footing, not to dazzle wildlife. Many mammal species can't see red light, so you can make a torch less intrusive by covering it with some red cellophane secured with an elastic band.

We have several torches equipped with a separate red LED - that's better than adding a red filter to white torchlight. We have been very happy with the XBeam RED LED torch from Wolf Eyes.
